Glue the two Body Sides into the Head plate.
Glue the two Servo Plates into the Body.
Put the rubber grommets in the servo lugs and put the ferules in from
the back of the servo so the brim of the ferule will be against the plywood.
Fasten the two servos in place using the servo screws provided.
Fasten on the four leg bones using M3 x 12 pan head steel screws
and fasten using M3 nylock nuts.
Just nip up the nuts and back off half a turn so the screws rotate easily.
Glue the front and rear pivot plates into the sole.
Make one right hand and one left hand foot.
Insert the Ankle Pin through the holes in the pivot plates and
clamp it between two ankle pieces, one grooved and one plain (with
the groove on the inside), using an M3x10 pan head steel screw and
an M3 full nut in the centre hole of the ankle, tighten the screw in
the centre hole of the ankle so the ankle pieces grip the Ankle Pin.
Fasten the ends of the leg bones to the Ankles using four M3x12 pan
head steel screws and M3 nylock nuts. As for the top of the legs
nip up the nuts and back off half a turn so the screws rotate easily.
Now tighten the screw in the centre hole of the ankle so the ankle
pieces grip the Ankle Pin.
Add the spurs using four M3x10 pan head steel screws and four M3 full nuts.
Do not tighten.
The Leg Tilt Rod has big bend at the foot end and a small bend at the servo end.
Insert the end of a wire wire through the spur on each foot.
It will be tight as the bend goes through the hole.
Using the long double ended Horn, and with the horn not on the servo, put the
servo ends of the wires through the holes next but one to the ends of the Horn.
Centre the servo and with the Horn horezontal press it on the servo shaft and
secure with the Horn screw.
NOTE you can not use a disc here as it prevents the legs from moving backwards
and forwards because the wire presses on the disc.
The slot allows the Spur to be moved to adjust for variations in the
length of the Tilt Rods.
Put the big bend of the Leg Stride Rods through the rearmost holes
in the leg bones (the small holes).
Again the wire will be tight as the bend goes through the hole.
Make sure the Left Stride Rod goes in the Left Leg and the
Right Stride Rod goes in the Right Leg.
With a big Disk loose from the servo put the small bend ends through two
outside holes on a diameter, centre the servo and place the Disc on the
servo shaft and secure with its screw.
Place Jet Ambler on a level surface and with the feet together and the Tilt Servo
centred adjust the Spurs so the feet are flat on the floor. Then tighten the four
Spur screws.
A four AA cell battery box can be glued, using sticky foam pads, to the Head
Plate to the rear leaving room at the front for a control circuit.
Alternatively -
A two cell holder can be fastened to each foot at the side of the ankle.
(Use Velcro so you can remove the holder to change the cells.)
To drive Jet Ambler from a Servo Control Board and a PC, thread the servo cables
up through the head plate holes at the rear and attach long servo extension leads.
